LEADERSHIP
National Sales Leader at UMortgage
Active producing loan officer who also trains and coaches mortgage professionals.
“I didn’t build my career talking about doing the work. I built it by doing the work.”

WHERE I CAME FROM
My parents divorced when I was young. My dad died in January 1986 when I was 12. I was the oldest son with three siblings, including two younger brothers. In a lot of ways, I’ve been a parent since I was 12.
At 14, I lied about my age to get a job washing dishes at a Chinese restaurant for $3 an hour. At 15, I rode my bike across town to work the grill at Wendy’s. I mowed the lawn. Hung the Christmas lights. Helped take care of my brothers. Did the shit that needed to get done.
I didn’t know it then, but those years taught me two things that have followed me my entire life:
Work matters. And nobody is coming to do it for you.
HOW I GOT HERE
I did well in school and earned an academic scholarship to college. I served a mission, which taught me how to knock on a stranger’s door, start a conversation and hear ‘no’ without being afraid of the next one.
Life after that wasn’t some straight line to success. I got married young. Became a dad in my early 20s. Sold cars and learned how to sell. Had another child. Went through a divorce. Made mistakes. Failed at things. Started over more than once.
Then in 2016, at 42 years old, I found mortgages almost by accident.
I was generating Facebook leads for insurance agents and Realtors when I started looking at the mortgage business. Somebody told me the average loan officer was in their 50s.
My reaction was basically, ‘Well shit, why not me?’
I got licensed in July 2016.
My first full year I closed 18 loans. Then roughly $10 million in 2018. $37 million in 2019. $73 million in 2020. $100 million in 2021. From 2022 through 2025, I personally closed 470 loans totaling $219+million in funded volume while taking on larger leadership responsibilities.
There wasn’t a secret.
I learned. I worked. I screwed things up. I got better. And I kept showing up.
WHY I STILL ORIGINATE
Today I’m a National Sales Leader at UMortgage.
I also still originate loans.
That’s intentional.
I have a hard time telling loan officers how to build a business if I’m not willing to do the same shit I’m asking them to do.
Markets change. Technology changes. Consumers change. What worked five years ago doesn’t automatically work today.
Producing keeps me honest.
If I teach something, I want to know it works because I’m doing it too.
Leadership means leading from the front.
WHAT I BELIEVE
VA lending taught me something bigger than mortgages.
Competence matters.
If someone trusts you with one of the biggest financial decisions of their life, you should know your shit.
If you’re going to lead people, do the work yourself.
If you make a mistake, own it.
If you don’t know something, learn it.
I’ve had wins. I’ve had failures. I’ve made money. I’ve lost money. I’ve been married. Divorced. Raised kids. Built businesses. Started over.
And I’m still learning.
That may be the most important part.
“I don’t have one lane. But everything I do comes back to the same thing: know your shit, do the work, and get results.”
MORTGAGES
I work directly with borrowers, structure complicated deals, solve problems and help people make better decisions about one of the biggest financial transactions of their lives.
VA LENDING
VA isn’t a product I occasionally sell.
VA lending has been a major part of my business for years. I’ve originated hundreds of VA loans, taught Realtors how VA financing actually works, and helped veterans understand and use the benefit they earned.
LOAN OFFICERS
Production. Referral partners. Databases. Follow up. Theme Days. Accountability. Execution. I teach loan officers the systems I actually use to build and run a mortgage business.
“VA loans are one of the best damn mortgage benefits available. The problem is too many people giving advice about them don’t actually understand how they work.”
VA lending became a major part of my business after I attended Military Mortgage Boot Camp in 2018. Since then, I’ve originated more than 500 VA loans, taught VA financing to real estate professionals, and spent years fighting the bad information that keeps veterans from fully using the benefit they earned.

“Offering VA loans doesn't make you a VA expert. Understanding the damn loan does ”
“I’m not interested in teaching theory from the sidelines. If I’m going to tell a loan officer what works, I should still be willing to prove it myself.”
I spend a significant part of my time helping loan officers build better businesses. I still personally originate because I believe leadership should come from the front.
The systems I teach aren’t complicated. Do the right things consistently. Track the work. Build real relationships. Eliminate excuses. Repeat.

Knowing what to do doesn’t mean shit if you don’t do it.

FEATURED RESOURCE

DON’T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT

“Mortgages are what I do. They’re not who I am.”
“I'm a husband. A dad. A business owner. And a guy who's fucked up enough things to have learned a few lessons the hard way.”
At 53, I’m probably more interested in what makes a good life than I’ve ever been. Family. Money. Health. Discipline. Leadership. Failure. Starting over. Getting better.
And figuring out which shit actually matters.
FAMILY
Being a husband and a dad matters more to me than anything on my résumé.
